Suzanne Buchta is a managing director in Debt Capital Markets and a 16-year veteran at Bank ofAmerica Merrill Lynch. Her team work across global regions and industry lines to advise capital marketsclients on product-specific financings, including Green Bonds.

Buchta has been active in advising issuers and consulting investors on Green Bonds since 2010. Herteam brought the first retail Green Bonds in 2011, met with green bond investors around the globe andhelped to garner mandates for a broad range of key Green Bond benchmark issuances.

Along with Citigroup, Buchta co-authored a white paper on the framework for green bonds. Publishedin September 2013, the white paper formed the basis for the “Green Bond Principles,” which waspublished in Jan 14. These guidelines are quickly becoming a recognized market standard fortransparency and disclosure for green bonds and are now managed by ICMA.

In 2014, Buchta was chosen as a Bloomberg New Energy Finance FiRe Finalist for her work on“Catapulting Green Bonds from a Niche Market to a Mainstream Market.” She spoke on Green Bondsat the United Nation’s Abu Dhabi Ascent, and appeared at a number of other conferences globallyaddressing various green bond topics. Recently, Buchta was named the 2015 Financial News’ EditorsChoice for her instrumental role in the green bond market.

Buchta holds a masters degree in Mathematics from UNC Chapel Hill, a Fulbright Fellowship fromMelbourne University and a BA from College of the Holy Cross.
