Shankar Krishnamoorthy heads one of the 5 Global ‘Metiers’ of Engie SA.

Shankar has over 30 years’ experience in the electricity, gas and water industries of which nearly two decades in senior leadership roles such as Head of Business Development for a region/globally, CEO/President and Managing Director. He has enjoyed significant success throughout his career and his experience encompasses construction, project management, strategy, business development and general management in the industry in several geographies and across cultures.

Shankar began his career with BHEL, the dominant Indian power equipment manufacturer and contractor and later worked with Crompton Greaves Limited. He joined Engie in India in 1997.

After serving as the CEO/Director of Indian operations at Bangalore, he moved to Engie, Bangkok in 2002 and took up the position of Chief Business Developer for Asia & Africa. In January 2007, he was transferred to Dubai and appointed the Executive Vice President and Head of Business Development for the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and India.

In January 2009, Shankar became CEO of Engie Middle East & North Africa (MENA) which, role was expanded to cover Middle East, Turkey and Africa region in 2011 and later in 2013 South Asia as well.

In March 2014, Shankar moved to the headquarters of the International energy business in London and took up the position of Executive Vice President of Business Development. As a part of a restructuring exercise that Engie took up in 2015 and which led to the creation of 5 Metiers and 24 BUs, Shankar was nominated the Managing Director of a Metier - Centralised Generation.
