Michael Linse joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 2009 and is a partner in KPCB’s Green Growth Fund (GGF), which supports young companies leading new markets in sustainable ways. Michael focuses on advances within the transportation, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and waste industries that are shaping global markets.

Before joining KPCB, Michael managed Goldman Sachs’ alternative energy investing team within the European Special Situations Group (ESSG) out of London where he was responsible for a number of ESSGinvestments, including the German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex. Michael joined Goldman Sachs in 1997 as an analyst in the Financial Institutions Group, dividing his time between the company’s Frankfurt and Hong Kong offices. In 2002, he joined the Structured and Principal Finance Group in London, where he focused on distressed portfolio transactions. Michael joined ESSG in 2003 to focus on German restructuring situations, then beginning in 2005, began investing in the alternative energy space. He was named managing director of Goldman’s ESSG in 2007.

Michael earned a B.A. degree in economics from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
