Luc Jacquet

Film Director and Founder, Wild-Touch

After studying biology, Luc Jacquet left for a 14-month wintering journey in the French Dumont d’Urville station on the ice fields of Antarctica, where he discovered his passion for images and scientific mediation.

His first feature film, March of the Penguins, was viewed by over 35 million people around the globe. It was awarded many prizes, including the prestigious Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2006.

In 2010, Luc Jacquet founded the NGO Wild-Touch, aimed at taking action in favor of wildlife conservation by arousing emotions through powerful images.

In 2014, Luc Jacquet returned to his cinematographic adventure alongside glaciologist emeritus Claude Lorius, directing "Ice & the Sky", a feature film released in 2015 in Europe and in 2016 in the US. The project coincides with an ambitious multimedia program implemented by Wild-Touch, dedicated to the major issues of climate change :www.iceandsky.com and education.iceandsky.com.

Luc Jacquet and Wild-Touch are now currently working on an unprecedented artistic and educational project about biodiversity, « The Flow of Life », that will explore different ecosystems and tell how all living-beings on our planet are interconnected.
