John Di Stasio

Large Public Power Council
President

John Di Stasio was named President of the Large Public Power Council (LPPC) in June, 2014. LPPC is comprised of 26 of the country’s largest public power systems, and member companies provide power to more than 30 million people in 13 states and Puerto Rico. As President, Di Stasio advocates for policies that allow public power systems to build infrastructure, invest in communities and provide reliable service at affordable rates.

Di Stasio was formerly the General Manager and CEO of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). While with SMUD, his accomplishments included offering some of the lowest electricity rates in California and improving reliability. Di Stasio was also a gubernatorial appointee to the California Workforce Investment Board and was named Electric Light & Power magazine’s 2013 large utility CEO of the Year.

In addition, Di Stasio has been an active volunteer in international energy issues. He has served as a delegate with the United States Energy Association, where he assisted in electrification, operations and energy market development in other countries including Bangladesh, Brazil, Botswana, India and Jordan.
