Carmelo Scalone holds Business Degrees from IESE Business School in Barcelona and Scuola di Direzione Aziendale of Luigi Bocconi University in Milan, as well as an Electrical Engineering Degree from La Sapienza University in Rome.

He is currently based in Paris and has lived in Italy, Sweden and Spain.

He has been working in the renewable industry since 2000.

Since 2014, Mr. Scalone is Member of the Executive Committee of EDF Energies Nouvelles (Paris), the renewable energy subsidiary of Electricité de France. He is in charge of all activities (development, construction and operation) in Latin America, Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

At EDF EN, Mr. Scalone coordinates a corporate team in Paris and the activities of 6 local subsidiaries (Brazil, Chile, Morocco, Israel, Egypt and India) and serves in their Board of Directors.

Prior to EDF Energies Nouvelles, he has been the Executive VP of Business Development at EDP Renewables in Madrid during 6 years. Between 2000 and 2007 he was CEO of Gamesa Energia Italia in Rome and eventually Executive VP for the Mediterranean Region at Gamesa. He started his career at ABB (in Italy and Sweden), where he spent 8 years and held, among others, the positions of VP Sales and VP SCADA & Telecom at ABB Energy Automation.
